Cute, Comfy Women Shoes for Travel (For When Hiking Boots are So Not the Vibe)

If you’re looking for the best women shoes for travel for when you’re not wearing hiking boots or walking shoes that are cute, comfy, and sustainable, this post is for you.

Given my fairly nomadic lifestyle, I don’t like to accumulate a lot of stuff. Thats why I emphasize quality over quantity. If I’m going to add a new piece into my closet, it MUST be suitable for travel. That’s why I sought to look for the best women shoes for travel that were comfortable, versatile, lightweight, long-lasting, and, of course, adorable.

Now, keep in mind, this post is not for hiking boots or rigorous walking shoes. Those categories of women’s travel shoes are well-covered. I was specifically looking for stylish women’s shoes that would be suitable for travel while still being fashionable, since I can’t wear hiking boots everywhere, after all!

Nisolo provided these shoes to me for free in exchange for my review, but as always, all opinions are my own. This post contains affiliate links and I will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.

The Ethically-Made Shoes I’ve Been Traveling With

And since ya girl can only wear hiking boots to so many places, this travel season I was looking to add some new investment-worthy pieces to my closet that would be perfect for traveling this summer when I still wanted to look cute.

In my quest for the best women shoes for travel, I decided on 2 pairs from Nisolo.

Nisolo was super kind enough to send them to me for review: the huarache sandals in desert rose and the all-day open toe clog heels in sky grey.

I’m going to let you know my thoughts for traveling with both of these shoes in this blog post, so read on!

Why Nisolo?

I’ve worked with Nisolo before, and was BLOWN AWAY by the quality and comfort of their footwear. I mean, yes, their stuff is C-U-T-E, so it satisfies that requirement, but beyond that, everything I’ve ever tried from Nisolo has been well-made and extremely comfortable.

Nisolo Takes Care of My Feet

Bestie, you KNOW these tired, old, used up traveler’s feet are not trying to stuff themselves into just any old shoes after a full day of walking around a new city! Nisolo takes care of my feet, while making them look fab-yoo-lous.

Nisolo’s Shoes Are Ethically-Made

Nisolo’s mission of sustainability makes me absolutely smitten with them.

They do an admirable job at paying producers beyond fair trade wages, offering healthcare and a healthy working environment. I’m also super impressed with their 0% net carbon commitment to combat climate change.

They Have Fair Prices

Another reason that Nisolo is amazing is that they don’t use any middlemen—meaning you’re able to get the high quality that Nisolo is known for, without having to pay a premium price just to cover the middlemen.

They’re Made to Last

Higher quality also means longer lasting, which helps the consumer produce less waste over time. Higher quality is also perfect for long term travel, since everything in my luggage gets a ton of use!

The Best Women Shoes for Travel While Stayin’ Cute

Scouring the Nisolo website is, to me, like entering a candy store. Literally one after another of amazing options that all get me all kinds of giddy.

But I had a very specific mission. I was looking for the best women shoes for travel, particularly, a pair of dressier shoes that could take me from day to night, as well as a pair of nice flats for when walking shoes were just not the vibe.

Lightweight and Versatile

Since I was planning on incorporating these selections into my travel wardrobe, I had to make sure they would be lightweight and versatile.

I ended up selecting the huarache sandals and all-day open toe clog heels for exactly these reasons. Both options looks just as fab with a pair of jeans as they do with a dress, maximizing the wardrobe looks I can create with them, and promising to possibly fulfill my mission to find the best women shoes for travel.

After all, having versatile footwear is essential for building a minimalist capsule wardrobe for travel.

Comfortable Sandals and Heels that are Good For Your Feet

I also wanted to make sure the shoes I was looking for would be comfortable, so I was specifically angling for sandals and heels that are good for your feet. Just as I was hoping, I found that both these Nisolo options do a wonderful job of keeping my feet supported and comfortable during my days of walking and exploring.

Best Women Shoes For Travel

I brought both pairs of shoes with me on our recent trips to Joshua Tree and San Diego (no international travel just yet, but hopefully one day soon!), and was beyond satisfied. I’m going to break down in detail my notes on wearing each pair of shoes and why I think they’re the best women shoes for travel in the next few sections!

Nisolo Huarache Sandals

If you want a pair of comfy, durable, and versatile flats—listen up! The craftsmanship of these huarache sandals is BEYOND. They feel so well-made, and are incredibly comfortable. They are the ultimate stylish women’s sandals for travel, if I may say so.

The Nisolo Huarache sandals breathe an effortless boho chic vibe into my travel wardrobe that transforms any basic look and complements even my nicest day dresses. I completely adore these huarache sandals, and definitely consider them to be one of the best women shoes for travel, if you’re looking for easy-going yet put together style.

I loved the desert rose color I selected, as it’s muted enough to function as a neutral, while still adding a bit of color. I don’t have any shoes this color, so I was ecstatic to see that I could expand my travel wardrobe with a new hue.

They also look fabulous with these luxury travel clothes.

Versatility

These stylish women’s sandals for travel are easy-going, taking me from brunch to the beach and beyond. They’re made with water-resistant leather, so I don’t have to worry about getting them wet, either.

I did a fair amount of walking in the sandals, and my feet never hurt, which is pretty amazing, because these old puppies get tired pretty easily these days!

Sizing

One important note on sizing: I did find that these ran a tad big. I normally wear a size 8.5 these days, and the 8.5 was way too big. I sized down to an 8, which fit much better, but just a teeny, teeny bit wigglier than I’d hope. I thought that a 7.5 would be way too small, so I stuck with an 8, and so far, so good.

Portability

Packing these stylish women’s sandals for travel is a breeze, as they weigh very little and flatten down well. Nisolo also includes little travel pouches for each shoe, ensuring they’re well-protected during transit.

Overall, the Nisolo Huarache Sandals are a stylish, easy-breezy addition to my travel wardrobe, melding comfort with style, but do keep an eye on sizing!

Nisolo All-Day Open Toe Clog Heels

Up to this point, I had literally never successfully found a pair of reliable heels for travel. Any heels I had tried before had been too uncomfortable, not versatile enough, bulky or heavy, or just cheaply made. I had pretty much given up.

So when I was scoping the Nisolo website, and my eyes fell on these adorable platform heels, the stylish traveler in me immediately perked up.

I mean platform heels would easily be the best heels for travel, as they’re known to be comfortable. However, ever block heel I’ve tried before has been clunky and HEAVY. Not ideal for light travel packing, that’s for sure.

Luckily, these Nisolo clog heels are actually extremely lightweight, making them perfect for packing for travel and easy on my feet. Hands down, the best heels for travel I’ve ever used. These are heels that are good for your feet, which is ideal these days, as my feet get quite used when I travel!

These Nisolo heels feature shock absorbing, memory foam insoles, and you can feel the difference they make. The 3″ heel is perfect, as it’s elevated, while still being comfortable.

Versatility

I love how these heels can work perfectly for a nicer day event, perhaps a brunch or a dressier pool party, as well as a dinner.

I wore these Nisolo heels to an extremely nice restaurant in San Diego, and they looked fabulous, and were super comfy to walk around the town with afterwards. While these are not the dressiest shoes in the world, that’s exactly why I’m such a fan of them.

These clog heels are suitable for a wide range of events, since to be honest, I rarely need to get super duper dressed up while traveling anyway.

Sizing

The sizing was perfect, as well. The size 8.5 I normally wear fit comfortably on my feet, with no complaints.

Portability

Like the huarache sandals, these heels also come with their own travel pouches, keeping them well-protected during transit.

I don’t know when I’ll be traveling internationally again, but whenever I do, these will HANDS DOWN be the one pair of heels I bring with me. They are easily the best heels for travel I’ve ever used!
