If you’re here, you’re probably already familiar with the Go City Pass for Rome. The Go City Pass is meant to be a convenient way to navigate the highly Instagrammable Rome, adding interesting cultural experiences to your itinerary, while saving time and money.

And in a city like Rome, a tourist pass like this could definitely come in clutch. After all, it’s hard to think of many cities that are more well-known than Rome. Its impressive ancient ruins, grand monuments, and romantic streets are justifiably famous and recognized around the world. But with this fame comes crowds, queues, and expensive prices. On a recent trip, we decided to try out visiting Rome with the Go City Pass, and learn once and for all, if it’s worth the hype.

What is the Go City Pass for Rome?

Go City Pass is a special Rome tourist pass that gives you access to skip-the-line and discounted tickets for Rome attractions including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, and the Vatican Museum.

Including over 35 attractions, the Go City Pass is an affordable and convenient way to explore Rome and its world-class wonders, perfect for your Italy family vacation.

How to Use the Go City Pass

The Go City Pass for Rome is simple to use. First, buy the passes online or on the Go City app — you’ll choose the type of pass (Explorer or All-Inclusive), as well as how many days/attractions the pass is valid for.

With the Explorer Pass, you get to pick a specific amount of attractions you get to visit (between 2 and 7). With the All-Inclusive Pass, you get to visit an unlimited amount of attractions over a certain length of days (up to 7 days). The price of passes varies depending on how many attractions  and the length of the pass chosen.

To get the tickets to the specific attractions you’d like to visit, you can to use the Go City app or the website. Sometimes, you’ll have to contact a tour operator directly to make a reservation, and other times you can book directly online. Many popular attractions will require you to select a specific date and time slot, while others don’t require any specific reservation.

Keep in mind that in many cities, the tickets to popular attractions may sell out days or even weeks in advance, so keep that in mind when you are planning your trip!

How We Used Our Rome City Pass

We used the Go City Pass for Rome on a recent trip to Italy.

We got a 3-item Explorer Pass, and were keen to take advantage of Go City’s skip-the-line tickets in attempt to try to beat the legendary crowds of Rome.

It was my first time to Rome, and I was so excited to tick off my bucket list in Rome with Go City!

We got discounted tickets to top Rome attractions with Go City: the Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel and the Colosseum (including the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill).

We used our third choice to to treat ourselves to a delectable three-course Italian meal.

Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel

While browsing Go City’s offerings of discounted tickets for Rome attractions, there were a few sites that immediately were must-do. The Vatican Museum & Sistine Chapel was one, and luckily there was a time slot available for us to get our museum pass in Rome.

We used our Rome and Vatican pass to skip the lines to get into the museum, and I was blown away by its grandeur and splendor. The Sistine Chapel may get most of the attention, but the galleries of the Vatican Museum itself are MIND-BLOWING — the masterpieces of artwork and architecture on display are truly a must-see.

We also visited the Colosseum, Roman Forum, & Palatine Hill with our Rome city pass. We were again lucky to snap up one of the time slots for these popular attractions.

The ticket with Go City includes the inside of the Colosseum, entrance to the Roman Forum, and the Palatine Hill — so you get to visit three sites with just one ticket.

As a lifelong history buff, my soul was singing as we strolled through these ancient landmarks in Rome.

After all, the Roman Colosseum is just one of those places to visit once in a lifetime. Huge bucket list item, check!

Three-Course Italian Meal

Our final choice with our Rome Go City Pass was for a three-course Italian meal at a local restaurant in the Prati neighborhood. Here we enjoyed the best pizza that we had in Rome and a delicious dessert — washed down with a glass of Italian wine, of course!

 

Verdict: Is the Go City pass for Rome worth it?

So, in case it’s not already resoundingly clear — absolutely YES, the Go City Pass for Rome is worth it!

We loved that the pass was such a convenient way to get discounted attractions tickets in Rome. The skip-the-line Go City Rome passes literally saved us hours on our trip, giving us more time to explore the amazing city.

Not only do the Go City Vatican and Rome passes save you valuable time, but they also can save you money. Depending on the attractions chosen, you can save up to 38% off of the listed price with Go City. Traveling in Rome is already expensive enough, so any way to save money really helps a lot.

Thanks to the Go City Pass in Rome, we got to visit some of the city’s top sights while saving time and money — both HUGE wins in our book!
