On a recent trip to Budapest, we had an enjoyable stay at the Maverick Urban Lodge, the newest of the Maverick Hostels in the city. Read on to learn why we found the Maverick Urban Lodge one of the best hostels in Budapest!

All the Maverick Hostels in Budapest are fantastic choices for budget-conscious travelers looking for the best hostels in Budapest. We recently had the pleasure of staying at the Maverick Urban Lodge in Budapest — it was a wonderful visit in one of the cool places to stay in Budapest.

Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest

The Maverick Urban Lodge is Maverick’s newest hostel in Budapest. At the Urban Lodge Budapest, Maverick has furthered their hostel design, focusing on cozy and spacious common areas. There’s even a rooftop terrace at the Maverick Urban Lodge, where you can hang out with new friends while taking in the views over beautiful Budapest.

Calling their hostels “lodges” is a smart choice by Maverick, as “lodge” implies a sense of comfort and warmness in an accommodation. If you’re trying to figure out where to stay in Budapest, Hungary,  you’ll find the Urban Lodge to be very clean, modern, and comfortable throughout, with friendly and helpful staff.

Staying in a Dorm at Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest

As a long-established couple, it had been many years since Lauren and I had stayed in a hostel dormitory. Nevertheless, we really enjoyed our stay in a 4-bed mixed dorm at this Budapest hostel, and we’d happily repeat the experience.

All the dorm beds at the Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest are cozy, comfortable, and even private. Each dorm bed at Maverick Urban Lodge is a cozy nook with a privacy curtain, a charging outlet, and a reading light. We were really impressed with the comfort and privacy of the beds here. Having stayed at other hostels without privacy curtains, kudos to Maverick for putting in the curtains!

Safe, Secure Rooms

We also liked that the dorm rooms at Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest can only be accessed with a room keycard. This adds to the sense of privacy and security in the dorm, something that you don’t necessarily feel in any given hostel. The dorm rooms at the Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest have spacious, easy-to-use lockers. You don’t need to use your own lock, as the lockers are accessed using your room keycard.

Clean Bathrooms

Hostel bathrooms can sometimes be grungy and a bit gross, but that’s definitely not the case at the Maverick Urban Lodge. The bathrooms were very clean and modern, with lots of shower, toilet, and sink facilities.

Rooms at Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest

The Maverick Urban Lodge offers guests at the Budapest hostel a variety of affordable room choices, both dormitories and private rooms. The Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest has 8 bed mixed/female dorms, 6 bed mixed/female dorms, 4 bed mixed/female dorms, as well as 4 bed mixed dorms with ensuite bathrooms. The ensuite bathrooms in dormitory rooms is a feature that makes the Maverick hostels to be some of the coolest places to stay in Budapest.

For private rooms, the Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest offers basic single rooms with ensuite bathrooms, standard/superior double rooms with ensuite, and standard with ensuite/basic twin rooms.

Private Rooms

While we didn’t get a chance to stay in a private room at the Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest, the rooms are also comfortable and modern. It’s a wonderful feature for a private room in a hostel to have an ensuite bathroom, so this is another feature that makes Maverick properties some of the best hostels in Budapest.

Amenities

In addition to rooms and beds, the Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest offers other amenities to its guests. These include a bar and restaurant on the ground floor, kitchens on two floors, and a rooftop terrace to enjoy.

The Maverick Urban Lodge offers events in its bar a few nights a week, including wine tasting and game nights. These are a great way to meet new friends while you’re staying at your hostel in Budapest.

The two kitchens here are well-stocked with pots, pans, and cooking utensils if you decide to cook while staying at this Budapest hostel.

The Maverick Urban Lodge also offers guests activities in Budapest, including daily pub crawls, escape rooms, boat and spa parties, and tickets to Budapest’s spas (with towel included).

Respectful, Friendly Guests

While hostels are often known as the realm of raucous young partiers, that’s not the case at the Maverick Urban Lodge Budapest. Even though Budapest is well-known as an international party destination, there was a variety of types of guests staying here. This includes families and a large group of children on a soccer trip, in addition to the typical 18-to-21 partygoers.

We enjoyed hanging out in the common areas with our roommates, and made some new friends — definitely one of the best parts about staying in a hostel in Budapest!

About the Location

The Maverick Urban Lodge has a few nearby attractions, though it is not super close to the Fisherman’s Bastion, the Parliament Building, and so on.

It is, however, very conveniently located near the renowned Budapest Great Market Hall, an amazing and affordable place to eat real Hungarian food. After all, eating Hungarian food is one of the best Budapest travel tips you’ll get.

The Maverick Urban Lodge hostel in Budapest is also only a 5 minute walk to the major Kalvin Ter transportation hub.

Stay in Budapest on a Budget: Final Thoughts

We really enjoyed our stay at the Maverick Urban Lodge in Budapest.

It was a top-tier experience at a hostel in Budapest, and we found the lodge to be comfortable and convenient for where to stay in Budapest. We especially loved that the Maverick Urban Lodge is suitable for guests of a wide range of ages and lifestyles — as well as the comfort and privacy of its 4 bed dorm.

We’d happily recommend the Maverick Urban Lodge for those wondering where to stay in Budapest and would certainly stay there again in the future.
