Protecting Our Smartphones While Traveling with ZAGG

Clearly, smartphones are an extremely essential tool for modern travel!

Our ZAGG Gear

We’re about to embark on a months-long adventure through Europe and the Middle East, and we wanted to make sure that we had the goods to keep our accessories going strong. Working so much in the desert makes our phones take quite a beating — I was way overdue for a new case. We got some new phone gear from ZAGG just in time for our trip — read on to find out more.

iPhone Battersea Case

The iPhone Battersea case from Gear4 is the best-feeling case I’ve used for my phone. I really like the textured grip on the backside of the case, and it feels solid and protective without feeling too heavy or bulky. The grip on the case is literally miles better than the dollar-store case I was using before — a huge improvement.

I don’t think I’ll be dropping my phone much anymore thanks to this case. Other phone cases can get scratched and worn down just from normal wear and use in your pocket or hand, but this case is definitely going to protect my phone for a long time. The Battersea case snaps easily on to the phone and fits like a glove. It also supports wireless charging, which is a nice plus.

This phone case is not only functional and protective, but also is nice-looking. The pop of orange accents pops nicely against the black of the case. I also like the design of the textured grip lines on the backside —they make an interesting diagonal triangle pattern.

The Battersea case boasts an impressive 16ft of drop protection due to the use of D3O, which is also used by the military and athletes for top-of-the-line protection and performance. There’s also a built-in RepelFlex antimicrobial treatment to reduce the growth of bacteria. 

GlassFusion Visionguard+ with D30 Screen Protector 

Phone screens can take quite a beating, so it’s very important to protect them, especially with the rough-and-tumble lives that we lead. This screen protector is made of a new hybrid polymer that provides flexible protection with a glassy and smooth tactile feel.

Lauren spends so much time on her phone working each day, so we love that this screen protector has a protective Eyesafe layer built in. Eyesafe technology helps to reduce eye strain by filtering blue light from the screen — your eyes will thank you! Unlike other protectors, this screen protector also maintains the appearance of the true colors of the screen while still filtering out the harmful blue light.

Phone screens are a hotbed for bacteria and germs (come on, we know you use your phone on the toilet). So, it’s wonderful that the GlassFusion screen protector has an anti-microbial treatment to reduce the growth of germs, as well as to prevent degradation of the protector by said bacteria.

The screen protector is also very simple and easy to apply to your phone — the kit comes with a tray to help keep your phone perfectly aligned while you apply the screen protector. It also came with a handy little tool to help smooth out any pesky air bubbles (though there were less than with other screen protectors).
