We got into travel blogging because we wanted a career that could support a nomadic, global lifestyle. But here’s the thing about travel blogging: it’s actually way more difficult than it looks. And to increase our success as travel bloggers, we had to learn how to drive traffic to our travel blog.

Blogging requires a repertoire of skills and roles we had virtually no experience with coming into this industry: SEO specialist, web developer, writer, copyeditor, photographer, videographer, social media manager, PR manager, marketer, graphic designer, content creator…the list of the hats we have to juggle each day goes on and on. As it turns out, the largest chunk of the process of travel blogging isn’t travel at all!

To be a successful travel blogger, you have to know how to drive traffic. Without traffic, no one’s going to see your travel guides, and you aren’t going to be able to make enough money to support yourself.

We’ve done A LOT to learn more about driving traffic to this blog–from attending industry conferences, joining webinars, listening to podcasts, reading blog posts, watching YouTube tutorials, buying and reading countless books, and so on. But the blogging industry is constantly changing, and so many of the tactics we learn for how to drive traffic to your travel blog simply aren’t relevant by the next year (or sooner).

That’s why we have so much appreciation for the evergreen strategies in Traffic Secrets: The Underground Playbook for Filling Your Websites and Funnels with Your Dream Customers by Russell Brunson.

In this post, I’m going to share my experience so far as I progress through Traffic Secrets, including some of the key strategies for how to drive traffic to your travel blog that I learned by completing the 30-day Traffic Secrets challenge!

Introducing Traffic Secrets by Russell Brunson

Traffic Secrets offers a wealth of knowledge for how to drive traffic to your website, no matter what kind of website. The beauty of the techniques is that they’re evergreen. This means that these techniques are valid today, were valid decades ago, and will be valid decades into the future.

I have virtually zero business background, and found the classic and foundational direct marketing techniques revealed by entrepreneur Russell Brunson to be phenomenally eye-opening and easily digestible.

In Traffic Secrets, Brunson lays out how to be at the front of new trends and see opportunities that others are blind to. It’s actually amazing how much I learned about finding and reaching out to my dream customers within such a short time–to be honest, before this challenge, I hadn’t actually narrowed down who my dream customer actually was.

Now, I know exactly who my dream customer is, allowing me to speak directly to them in my marketing materials, which is essential if you want to learn how to drive traffic to your travel blog.

Russell Brunson’s Resume Speaks For Itself

I mean, the man gets it.

Best-Selling Author and CEO of the $100M software company ClickFunnels, Brunson is closely followed by over a million entrepreneurs, and I totally see why.

Even though we at Television of Nomads don’t actually sell a PRODUCT, we found tremendous value in the concept of the “sale funnel” popularized by Brunson, as we adapted it to our travel blogging experience.

See, even though we don’t sell a product, the 30-day Traffic Secrets challenge taught me that I still do provide value to my dream customer, and can learn how to best serve them and drive them to our blog by using Russell Brunson’s tested, timeless strategies.

What I’ve Learned: How to Drive More Traffic to Your Travel Blog

It’s hard to narrow down everything I’ve learned from Traffic Secrets, as it’s a pretty sizable resource, and I do encourage you to read it for yourself. But the three most valuable concepts, in my opinion, that I can carry forth with me after beginning Traffic Secrets, are defining my dream customer, defining my Dream 100, and learning about Hook, Story, Offer.

Perhaps the most valuable lesson in driving traffic was learning how to define my target customer. Before I did the 30-day challenge, I really just wrote whatever I fancied, and kind of just randomly shared it to my social channels without any strategy. Now, I realize what a missed opportunity that was.

I learned that the most profound problem that most entrepreneurs have isn’t in the creation of their amazing product (e.g. travel guide)–it’s in getting their dream customers to know they exist. The sad reality is so many businesses, tens of thousands, start and fail every year because the entrepreneurs behind them don’t understand this one essential skill: the art of getting your dream customer to find you.

Since starting Traffic Secrets and working through the 30-day challenge, I have a clear sense of who my dream customer is, which allows me to speak directly to them. And thus, I have a clearer sense of my purpose, and mission as a travel blogger. I have so much more clarity in how I’m going to continue building my dream career in travel blogging, and I really have Traffic Secrets to thank for that.

To be a successful travel blogger, you have to know how to drive traffic. Without traffic, no one's going to see your travel guides, and you aren't going to be able to make enough money to support yourself.
